Why choose Data & AI Governance?
If your role involves data protection, information governance, compliance, or AI risk — or you’re moving into one of these areas — this programme gives you the formal qualification and practical frameworks to lead with authority. You’ll finish with the skills to write governance policy, run privacy impact assessments, and advise senior leaders on responsible AI.
From compliance support to governance authority
Make AI trustworthy
Build the ethical and compliance frameworks your organisation needs before it deploys AI. Bias detection, fairness testing, transparency standards — the work that keeps AI out of the headlines.
Protect what matters
Go beyond ticking boxes. Apply UK GDPR, run privacy impact assessments, and design data protection processes that work in practice — not just on paper.
Be the governance authority
Become the person the board turns to when data or AI decisions need a governance view. Build credibility with a Level 4 qualification from the Department for Education.
Shape policy, don’t just follow it
Write governance policies, manage ROPA, enforce retention and minimisation, and design the audit trail that lets the organisation evidence compliance on demand. Move from reactive firefighting to proactive governance leadership.

Our Curriculum
Level 4 • 15 months + 3 months assessment
Foundations of Control
Establish the core principles of effective data governance. You’ll implement data quality standards, define ownership and accountability, and apply Master Data Management practices to ensure consistency and reliability across systems. You’ll work directly with GDPR requirements, completing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and mapping data flows within your organisation. By the end, you’ll have built the foundational controls required to ensure data is accurate, protected, and compliant.
Governance in Practice
Move beyond theory into operational governance. You’ll design and implement governance processes such as data audits, monitoring routines, and issue escalation pathways. You’ll assess compliance against internal policies and external regulations, identifying gaps and enforcing corrective actions. This module focuses on ensuring that governance is not just defined, but consistently applied, measured, and maintained across the organisation.
Risk, Ethics & Assurance in AI
Develop the capability to govern modern data and AI systems responsibly. You’ll identify and assess risks including bias, misuse, and lack of transparency, applying frameworks for fairness, accountability, and explainability. You’ll respond to incidents such as data breaches, conduct investigations, and implement preventative controls. By the end, you’ll be able to ensure that both data and AI systems meet ethical, legal, and organisational standards.
Compliance, Regulation & Oversight
Strengthen your role as a governance specialist by focusing on regulatory compliance and oversight. You’ll manage Records of Processing Activities (ROPA), assess third-party processors, and ensure adherence to data protection legislation across jurisdictions. You’ll develop governance documentation, enforce retention and data minimisation policies, and support audit readiness. This module positions you as the person responsible for ensuring the organisation can evidence compliance at any time.
Design and ship a live governance asset at work — a DPIA framework, breach response procedure, retention policy, or audit process. Then present it to your End-Point Assessor in a structured professional discussion. No written exam — just evidence of the governance work you’ve actually done.
